Tonight’s (Oct. 21) episode of Dynamite kicked off with AEW World Tag Team Champions Young Bucks taking on Mark Davis and Jake Doyle of the Don Callis Family. This was a Title Eliminator match, which is AEW’s fancy way of saying it’s a non-title match where the challengers earn a future championship match if they win.
Even though the commentators said the Bucks were banged up following their victory at WrestleDream, I figured this would be a basic win for the the champs, leading to a post-match confrontation
with New Level. But I couldn’t have been more wrong. Davis and Doyle beat the utter living shit out of Matt and Nick Jackson to defeat them in a stunning squash match.
The Young Bucks had no offense and never stood a chance, which means Davis and Doyle just earned themselves a title match sometime soon.
What’s your reaction to the Young Bucks taking such a one-sided ass kicking by the Don Callis Family? Are you curious to see how the rematch is booked? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
