Former third-round NFL pick and third-year defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson was waived Sunday afternoon by the Cincinnati Bengals. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport broke the news, adding that Jackson was actually drawing trade interest, but the Bengals obviously did not make a deal with anyone.
Entering his third season with the Bengals, Jackson was facing an uphill battle because of injuries and an extremely deep defensive line room this season.
The former Aggie showed a bit of promise in his rookie season
with a handful of solid plays, but never truly showed consistency. He never quite made it over the hump in Cincinnati.
Despite struggling with a couple of injuries during his rookie season and this year during training camp, he still has quite a bit of upside, especially for teams searching for defensive line depth.
Ultimately, Jackson’s best season was his rookie season when he played in 13 games, tallying 15 tackles and a sack.
