AEW sent three wrestlers to represent them against CMLL at the Dream Match event on Friday (Dec. 19, 2025). Leave it to Claudio Castagnoli to salvage the night for AEW’s only win.
Claudio entered Arena
Mexico with the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Ultimo Guerrero. The main event was a rugged fight with splashes of sizzle, such as a tornillo plancha from the Death Rider. Claudio used a sneaky trick in the end. Guerrero was surging with momentum, so Claudio hid behind the referee as a distraction to hammer a big boot. Claudio seized the opportunity to finish with the giant swing and the Neutralizer.

Mascara Dorada defended the World Historic Welterweight Championship against “Speedball” Mike Bailey. The high-flying action carried up the ramp for a stage dive from Dorada. Speedball’s Ultima Weapon wasn’t enough to win, so he went for the flamingo driver. Dorada elbowed his way out to escape. The champ slammed Bailey avalanche style, then he closed with a shooting star press to retain the gold.
Soberano Jr. defeated Kevin Knight. The Jet leaned rudo for the match clawing at Soberano’s mask, blowing kisses to the crowd, and receiving the “culero” chant. There were plenty of dives, but it was a power move that finished the match when Soberano executed a piledriver.
Atlantis Jr. and Xelhua are the winners of El Torneo Gran Alternativa for 2025. The tournament paired one veteran star with one up-and-comer. In the final, Atlantis Jr. and Xelhua bested Angel de Oro and Yutani. The crowd was hot for the near falls on a belly-to-back piledriver and a Styles Clash from the golden boys and a double frog splash from the blue boys. Atlantis Jr. and Xelhua slapped on a pair of submissions to etch their names in the history books.
In anticipation of the Sin Salida mask versus hair cage match on January 2, CMLL held a torneo cibernetico for bragging rights. Virus outlasted the field for victory with La Motocicleta submission on El Coyote.
The replay for CMLL Dream Match is available worldwide through the CMLL YouTube subscription (Campeón Mundial and Leyenda levels). Outside Mexico, the replay is also available through TrillerTV with English commentary.
