Anthony Weaver is no longer the defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins after the team hired former Green Bay Packers linebackers coach Sean Duggan to be their new defensive coordinator — although
newly hired head coach Jeff Hafley has stated that he will call Miami’s defensive plays.
According to various reports on Monday, Weaver will return to the Baltimore Ravens to be the defensive coordinator under new head coach Jesse Minter.
Weaver was a finalist for the head coaching gig in Baltimore, but ultimately rejoins the organization as defensive coordinator after previously being employed by the Ravens from 2021 through 2023 — first as a defensive line coach and then as the team’s assistant head coach for his final two seasons in Baltimore.
Weaver spent his last two seasons in the NFL as Miami’s defensive coordinator under former head coach Mike McDaniel. McDaniel landed in Los Angeles this offseason as the team’s new offensive coordinator following his dismissal from the Dolphins.
With Weaver missing out on all head coaching opportunities during this cycle, the Dolphins will no longer be able to claim the two third-round compensatory draft picks they would have been in line for if the 45-year-old had gotten a head coaching job this offseason.
