The Packers’ win over the Cardinals has spawned no end of takes. It was a very Rorschach test of a game — people see what they want to see.
Without weighing in on the overall quality of the game or the win,
here’s my perspective: this was a game where the Packers’ best players made big plays when it mattered most.
Micah Parsons got three sacks and had a fourth taken away by a penalty that has only been called three times since it was introduced. Josh Jacobs battled through illness and injuries to make a difference on every one of his 13 carries, scoring two touchdowns. Tucker Kraft caught five passes on a season-high 10 targets, including the most important completion of the game: his fourth-down catch that set up the go-ahead touchdown.
If that’s what it takes to win, the Packers are in good shape. If your best players are consistently making big plays, you’re going to end up doing just fine. Certainly, the Packers would like to put together more complete performances than they’ve been putting up lately, but if their stars are doing their jobs, they’ll be ahead of most teams in the league that don’t find themselves quite as flush with talent.
Micah Parsons had a Reggie White moment, and there’s likely a lot more coming | Packers News ($)
Parsons showed everybody why you pony up for a premier pass rusher, and there may be on the way.
Kraft is on pace for his best statistical season, and he’s just getting started.
Packers Have No Breathing Room in Breathtaking NFC Playoff Race | Sports Illustrated
The Packers are nominally on top of the NFC North, but there’s very little wiggle room.
Parsons credits some of his development to an early vote of confidence from Aaron Rodgers.
