Of course, if you’ve been following my picks over the first three weeks of the season, the Costanza theory may be the best way to go. By that I mean you may want to take a look at what I’m picking and then do the complete opposite. Yours truly managed to go 0-for-3 last week thanks to yet another truly putrid Minnesota Vikings offensive performance, though if you took the Justin Jefferson bet you were likely covered by whatever injury protections your sportsbook of choice offered when he went out in the first quarter.
Once again, I shall endeavor to do better this week. After all, it would be difficult to do worse. Here we go.
Kyler Murray Passing Yardage: Over 207.5 passing yards (-114)
I don’t care if Justin Jefferson is out on Sunday. If dude can’t get it going this week, I’m going to have some significant questions. . .and, quite frankly, so should everybody else.
Jauan Jennings Receiving Yardage: Over 26.5 receiving yards (-114)
Thus far, through his first two games as a Minnesota Viking, Jennings has one more reception and one more yard than I do. This doesn’t seem like an ideal use of resources. With Jefferson on the sidelines, Jordan Addison will move into the #1 receiver role, which should leave Jennings out there against lesser competition. At some point, he’s going to have to start doing something, you would think, and this week seems like as good a week as any.
Vikings to have 7+ kicking points (-200)
Will Reichard is the best kicker in the National Football League, bar none. We know that. Obviously, the Vikings should be scoring touchdowns on Sunday, as the Dolphins’ red zone defense is terrible, but given that Minnesota’s offense has been nothing to write home about so far this season, I’m guessing we’ll see #16 trot out onto the field a couple of times on Sunday afternoon, and when he does, he’s going to do what Will Reichard always does.
Those are my picks for the best player prop bets for the Vikings this week when they face off with the Dolphins at U.S. Bank Stadium. Are there any that you’ve got your eye on?
