Now that Roma has secured a spot in the Europa League Round of 16 and sewn up their final transfer of the winter season, former Celta Vigo/Bayern Munich winger Bryan Zaragoza, the club can return its focus to Serie A. After losing four of six matches between late November and early January, Gian Piero Gasperini’s group is back on the right foot, winning three consecutive matches and drawing a fourth close out the month.
Thanks to those efforts, as well as some help elsewhere on the table, Roma finished
Round 21 in third place, nipping at second-place Milan’s heels (1-point gap) and remaining within shouting distance of league-leading Inter Milan (9-point gap). To maintain those distances, Roma has to take all three points today against Nicolo Zaniolo and Udinese.
With only two wins in their past six league matches, Udinese is reeling, which might make them ripe for the plucking. We’ll post the lineup as soon as they become available, but in the meantime, please let us know how you’re feeling ahead of today’s fixture: Can Roma reclaim third place?
