
The Colorado Rockies recorded their third shutout of the 2025 season last night, and their first shutout win over the Padres at Coors Field since April 24, 2018, a game Kyle Freeland also started. In that game, Freeland pitched seven innings with three hits, two walks and eight strikeouts; last night, Freeland tossed eight innings while allowing just two hits and striking out 10. The Rockies need one more win to tie last year’s White Sox record, and two more to avoid the record. The nice thing about
them avoiding it is just that — they turned this thing around after being on an absolute collision course since the beginning of the year. The bad thing is that if they win another game or two, this season will be remembered as just another 100-loss season that only those of us who suffered through it will remember. But the real victory there is the friends and memories we made along the way, right?
