Pregame notes
The Storm got some of their players back for the Sunday matchup against the Mystics and had their way with Washington. Storm dominated
the Mystics off the strength of a career performance from Storm newcomer, Natisha Hiedeman, who tied her career high with 24 points.
Storm were able to get up by as much as 26 points and were able to break out in the 2nd quarter. The Mystics just could not stay competitive in this one. This game was also notable for the Storm because of the debut of their top pick, Awa Fam, who contributed 10 points off the bench for Seattle.
The most glaring stat for that game, which will be critical for Wednesday’s tilt, is 3 point shooting. Mystics shot just 20 percent from behind the arc while only making 4 3s, while the Storm shot 46 percent and made 13 3s. Washington will need to find a way to better defend the 3.
Mystics are one of the few teams that has the size to matchup well against Seattle, but they will need to play better defense on the perimeter. Let’s see how Coach Sydney Johnson adjusts for their 2nd matchup against the Storm on Wednesday evening.
