Jake Paul was at the PFL event last weekend in New York, scouting talent after the (cough) “co-leader of MMA” merged with MVP. Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was on the scene as well, cornering Usman Nurmagomedov for his PFL New York main event against Archie Colgan.
Usman made quick work of the Coloradan “King” and is now a free agent.
“Hey, what do you think?” Paul asked Khabib. “MVP-PFL?”
“Amazing,” Khabib responded. “I think it’s good — it’s good for MMA.”
“With what we’re doing,
this merger with MVP, we’re changing MMA forever where we give fighters a better place to live,” Paul explained. “If you fought for us, it would monumentally change the sport forever. So it’s about change.”

Nurmagomedov, now 37, retired back in late 2020 after defending his title against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in Abu Dhabi. The full-time coach walked away with a professional record of 29-0, even though longtime rival Nate Diaz claims to have grounded “The Eagle” when they came face-to-face back in 2015.
As for Usman, he’s in talks to join UFC at some point later this year.
