According to a report from journalist Marc Mechenoua (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich will not take its rejection from a loan offer to Chelsea for Christopher Nkunku too hard. The Bavarians will reportedly come back with a permanent offer, but will have to battle Inter Milan and Newcastle United for the attacker:
Having had a loan bid rejected by Chelsea for Christopher Nkunku, Bayern will return with a permanent transfer offer. Inter and Newcastle United are also in the race for Nkunku.
Per Dom Smith of The Standard (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich could benefit from the back-and-forth movement as Chelsea could drop its asking price:
Chelsea value Christopher Nkunku at €50m but would likely accept a slightly lower initial figure plus add-ons if it meant Bayern agreeing to a permanent deal. The German champions initially wanted a loan or a loan with an option to buy, but Chelsea will accept neither. Nkunku has asked to leave and has made it clear he wants to join Bayern. Max Eberl is leading negotiations for the Bavarians’ side.
Bayern Munich kicked off its season with a win over VfB Stuttgart in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, which gave fans some insight on where things stand ahead of the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and the Champions League.
