Newcastle have an important decision to make when it comes to strengthening their attacking options. With Matthias Jaissle in charge, Newcastle need to identify strikers who can fit his playing style, deliver goals, and help the team compete at the highest level. Finding the right forward could make a significant difference to the club’s ambitions. Here is one striker Newcastle should target to improve their attack and give the squad more firepower.
Jørgen Strand Larsen
Newcastle have attempted to sign Larsen before,
but failed; now that he is at Crystal Palace, not Wolverhampton Wanderers, they could attempt again, and maybe get him this time.
Newcastle was willing to pay the Wolves $60 million for Larsen, which tells you that he is a very valuable player to Newcastle, and a very talented star player as well. Larsen was sold from the Wolves to Palace for $48 million.
Newcastle United lost their striker Isak to Liverpool, so their top striker is Yoane Wissa, who they brought from Brentford. The problem is that he is 30 years old, and bringing in Larsen would help; he is only 26 years old, which means they can grow him into their future striker and top player on the offside of attack.
Larsen would have to fight for the starting job over Wissa and Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who are both great strikers.
Newcastle could definitely use an upgrade on their attack, and adding Larsen could be the move that can improve their team. We all know Newcastle has the money; it just depends on whether Palace would be willing to sell him and whether Larsen wants to move from the club in just one season.
Newcastle’s top scorer is Harvey Barnes, who is a midfielder; he has two goals so far this season. He is their top scorer through the eight games they have played; that is not great. Larsen only has one goal, but it’s because he has not played that much with Palace this season.
Bringing in Larsen would be a challenge for Newcastle; they could pay for him or do a swap deal. It would probably be best if they get him to transfer one of their striker away.
Larsen would definitely be a perfect fit at the striker position for Newcastle.
