Bayern Munich is now a serious contender for winning the Champions League, and their first test on the road to Budapest is Italian outfit Atalanta, who knocked out erstwhile Bundesliga title challengers Borussia Dortmund in the playoffs. Luis Díaz knows that the going got tougher and he’s going all in.
“Things will now be more difficult compared to the league phase, because it’s now the best teams that remain”, the Colombian said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “Every team in the Round of
16 deserves to be there. Atalanta is a great club – it’ll be a tough job for us. Having home advantage in the second leg is very important. You can analyze what happened in the first leg and then focus on those details for the second leg at home with our fans behind us”.
The Dortmund squad already told Joshua Kimmich that the pitch in Bergamo is less than ideal, so that’ll be an added obstacle for the Bavarians.
