Double check the syllabus and get your pencils ready, the Bruins have announced and released their Hometown Remix jersey!
Wait, what the hell is a “Hometown Remix” jersey?
You know the Reverse Retro? It’s kind of like that.
Fanatics and the NHL announced that they’d be making a special jersey for the upcoming season back in August, and to their credit have largely kept just about everything besides the main color of said jerseys from leaking.
Hometown Remix sweaters were released all at once today, though some teams had early campaigns with codes to generate interest. Boston’s was “Varsity”.
The New Threads!
The Bruins have released the following: A brown sweater with a single gold stripe with white piping, and two elbow stripes in the same vein. A “college” style brown and gold shield with the “B” in Spoked B on it’s own sits on both shoulders. This is to be paired with a gold helmet of the same color, and brown gloves, pants, and socks with the gold stripes.
So what are they going for?
The Bruins are of course going after Boston’s college town teams. To do this, they built a whole website that, if it wasn’t tied to the NHL website itself, would be a dead ringer for multiple schools landing pages in this area.

The jersey of course calls upon multiple schools, like the Beanpot regulars BU, BC, Northeastern, and Harvard, as well as many other D-II and D-III schools in the area (Go Colonels!)

Personal verdict?
10/10. Easy winner. An actual throwback to the game’s original seeds of growth in the area and a throwback to the color scheme that started it all; something the B’s are often hesitant to actually indulge in, but when they do it’s a near absolute winner. They even found the perfect way to make front-facing numbers work on a hockey jersey, something I am IMMENSELY critical of and find very gross looking in most other contexts, but in college? I can sort of get behind it.
But I turn it over to you, friends. Do you think this sweater makes the grade?
