Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Indiana fans and fans across the country.
Indiana football beat Michigan 13-6 this past Saturday largely in spite of its passing game, but that’s not necessarily a personnel issue.
Josh Hoover, the Hoosiers’ starter all season, suffered an injury to his throwing arm against Ohio State after hitting the ground hard while on the run. It seemed to linger for the remainder of the matchup,
with Hoover grimacing after throws.
That seemed to stay true for the duration of the Michigan game, with Hoover finishing with just eight completions on 18 attempts through the air for 81 yards. It got to the point that Indiana attempted just one pass in the second half, with the lone attempt leading to Hoover’s first interception on the season. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that he was playing through an injury to his arm.
Curt Cignetti said he expects Hoover to be fine this week, but there’s always a chance he’s not fully healthy in time for this Saturday’s matchup against Minnesota. Cignetti shared after the game that conversations were had during the Michigan game on inserting backup Grant Wilson, but the staff opted to stick with Hoover, who delivered in overtime with a long pass to tight end Brock Schott to set up the go-ahead touchdown run for himself.
But what do you think? Should Indiana make a move and start Wilson against Minnesota if Hoover isn’t back to his usual self? Share your thoughts below:
