Barcelona have confirmed that Joan Garcia has undergone successful knee surgery and will miss the next 4-6 weeks in a fresh update on their injured goalkeeper.
The stopper picked up the injury in the win over Real Oviedo and went under the knife on Saturday morning in Barcelona.
Here’s the club’s official statement:
“Joan García underwent surgery this Saturday on a torn medial meniscus in his left knee. Dr Joan Carles Monllau performed an arthroscopy at the Hospital de Barcelona, and it has been confirmed
that his recovery time will be between 4 and 6 weeks, depending on how he progresses.”
Barcelona will hope that Garcia’s recovery is as swift as anticipated and that he will be back in action soon for Hansi Flick’s side.
Wojciech Szczęsny will take over as No.1 in the meantime, while Diego Kochen is reportedly set to return from Under-20 duty with the United States to serve as the veteran’s back-up.
