In a surprising crunch match against Serbia to avoid relegation in the UEFA Nations League, Germany played brilliantly and won 2-0 in Munich thanks to goals from national team debutant Tom Bischof and Florian Wirtz. Lackluster finishing was a common theme in the match, but that didn’t mean Germany didn’t try:
16
– Germany had as many shots on goal in the first half against Serbia as it did in its entire last game against Greece (16).
Reaction.
When Germany slumped to a first ever defeat to Greece, Jürgen Klopp and the players decided that enough was enough and turned up the heat. The Germans were near enough unplayable, with positive showings from Bischof, Wirtz, Jonas Urbig — another NT debutant — Derry Scherhant, Aleksandar Pavlović, and Philipp Treu.
Germany takes on Greece in a few days time before the international break takes a pause for the normal club season to restart, before the international games return in mid-November.
