What does McGregor intend
to do with his free agency? The world is his oyster. McGregor could box Jake Paul, settle his trilogy with Nate Diaz, or sellout Croke Park in Ireland. In a recently posted video on social media, however, McGregor made it clear that his first priority in a post-UFC world would be a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) debut.
“Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is unstoppable at the moment,” McGregor exclaimed. “What a few months we’ve had. God bless it, God bless true fighting. I can’t wait to do it. One more to go and the Mac Daddy is free.”
This is the kind of talk that ends in a matchup versus Carlos Prates.
Jokes aside, does it really matter if McGregor loses his final UFC bout and enters free agency on a long losing streak? He hasn’t won a fight since 2020, sure, but it’s still the Mac! Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul in 2024 should serve as definitive proof that star power can remain far past one’s prime in combat sports. If McGregor wants to grow his investment in BKFC, then competing in that ring would draw a ton of new eyes.
