You can’t watch for wins anymore, but you can certainly keep refreshing our home page for roster moves. The Braves may not have the wherewithal or desire to win a bunch of games in September, but keeping everyone guessing by moving the deck chairs around? Hell yeah.
The biggest piece of news here is the eventual promotion of Hayden Harris to Atlanta. The saga has been a pretty winding and amusing one, as folks have been calling for Harris’ promotion ever since he started dominating Double-A hitters back in 2023. He didn’t get the promotion then, dominated Double-A again in 2024, but struggled in Triple-A. This year, he dominated both Double-A and Triple-A hitters, but wasn’t promoted to the gong show / goon squad second-half-of-2025 Atlanta relief corps, until now, anyway.
Harris has a combined 0.56/1.95/2.55 ERA/FIP/xFIP line in the minors this year across 39 appearances spanning 48 innings. That line reflects absolutely obliterating Double-A, and doing well but not video game numbers-well in Triple-A. At least in the minors, he’s sort of been your generic absurd numbers reliever — most relievers these days are able to post dominating lines via high strikeout and walk rates, with the strikeouts more than compensating for the free passes. Now people will need to find some other unpromoted guy to complain about!
Ha-Seong Kim ended up as the Braves’ latest acquisition in a surprising move yesterday. Since he just wrapped up a series in Washington, while his teammates returned home to Florida, there was little chance of him making it to Chicago for yesterday’s game, but another spin of the Earth on its axis heals some logistical wounds. Watching Kim do his thing, and how effectual that thing is, provides at least some intrigue or interest even as the team has basically given up the ghost of competitiveness. I’m not that concerned about his hitting based on what’s happened so far, but we should keep our eyes open for the progression/recovery of his defensive aptitude after offseason shoulder surgery.
Congratulations are in order to Jurickson Profar, it appears. His absence for paternal reasons delays the Braves having to kick a position player off the roster for the time being. Who will it be, when Profar returns? A sayonara to Luke Williams? Stay tuned. And take your time, Papa Profar, you can do a lot for your family right now but not so much for your teammates!
Wander Suero ends up being the 40-man roster casualty this time. He’s been horribad in 6 1/3 innings for the Braves so far this year (267/219/143 is comically awful) but had nice numbers at Triple-A, which kind of tells you something about journeyman relievers. Or it tells you nothing at all, you decide.
Anyway, Hayden Harris, big league Brave. Woo.
