A couple of small news stories came across the wire in Yankees-land yesterday, the club picking up their option on Tim Hill while decline their option on Jonathan Loáisiga. This was mostly expected, but
it was still noteworthy to see them officially cut ties with Loáisiga, at least for now. The righty would’ve earned $5 million in 2026; it’s possible the Yankees try to bring him back on a smaller deal, but after another injury-plagued, inconsistent season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the two sides go their separate ways. On the site today, Sam wraps up our offseason priorities series, while Matt grades the abbreviated season of Oswaldo Cabrera. Also, tonight, Josh will write up the news on the Silver Slugger Awards, which will be announced today and will surely include Aaron Judge taking home his fifth such distinction.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Of the Yankee relievers on the chopping block (think Ian Hamilton, Jake Cousins, Scott Effross, Mark Leiter Jr.), who do you think has the highest chance of being on the team next year?
2. Who’s the highest-profile player that you expect to get traded this offseason across the league?
