TCU women’s basketball continued building its 2026-27 roster this week, signing Spanish guard Claudia Contell. Contell, who’ll be a freshman for the upcoming season, has competed in both the Euroleague and Liga ACB. She averaged 16.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game for CB Gran Canaria during the 2025-26 season. The 5-foot-10 guard was named MVP of the U20 European Championship in 2022, leading Spain to gold.
From Valencia, Spain, Contell will have four seasons of eligibility
with the Horned Frogs, who reeled in one of the top transfer portal classes of the offseason. That class includes Bella Hines (LSU), Lara Somfai (Stanford), Jadyn Wooten (Oklahoma State), Lanie Grant (North Carolina), Camille Williams (Miami) and Avery Hjemstadt (Utah). TCU’s returning players are 6-foot-7 center Clara Silva, 6-foot-8 center Sarah Portlock and guard Clara Bielefeld.
Also set to join TCU are Australian guard Jessie-May Hall and Belgian center Laura Vilcinskas. TCU has reached the Elite Eight in back-to-back seasons, finishing 34-4 in 2024-25 and 32-6 in 2025-26. The Horned Frogs had a trio of players, Olivia Miles, Marta Suarez and Taylor Bigby, selected in the 2026 WNBA Draft. Hailey Van Lith and Madison Conner were each taken in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
