Well, that was a fun series.
The Phillies finished off a sweep of the Mariners yesterday with another 20-hit offensive explosion, the second in their three games against Seattle. In total, they outscored the Mariners 29-14 and out-hit them 48-21. And that’s leaving out the dominant performance of the Phillies starting pitchers.
Ranger Suárez, Cristopher Sánchez, and Jesús Luzardo combined to throw 19 innings while allowing just five runs and collecting an eye-popping 34 strikeouts. The pitching staff
as a whole held AL MVP front runner Cal Raleigh to a combined 1-12 with 8 punchouts. It was as dominant of a series that the Phillies have played in quite some time, some bullpen meltdowns aside.
