Bayern Munich really have no excuse to hide behind after being clearly outplayed against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League. One of the two winning streaks had to end tonight and the Bavarians had to settle
for the loss. While somethings could have been different, a match like this often points out at where the team needs improvement and defender Jonathan Tah wants to place the focus on that.
After losing their first match of the season, Bayern will have to deal with their glaring shortcomings against a top opponent. Giving his thoughts on how the team can recover from a loss on the biggest stage, Jonathan Tah wanted to quickly put the match behind him.
“Put it behind us right now. Just focus on the next game. I think it’s always important how you react when you lose. We will keep going, work hard and hopefully face them again,” Tah said, placing the focus back on the basics (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The Gunners held their structure impressively well while their midfield and attack put the opposition under a lot of pressure. Bayern’s defensive stability needed some bolstering from the midfield. Harry Kane was tracking back all night to handle the pressure from Arsenal. Having accustomed to dominating the possession, Bayern had trouble adapting to the growing duress from the Arsenal press. Like Tah said, plenty to learn from, but building back from the basics is the sensible way to absorb this loss.
