The Commanders didn’t even wait for their formal injury report to announce the return of some key starters. Head coach Dan Quinn said that linebacker Frankie Luvu (groin) and tight end Chig Okonkwo will play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
That’s a huge win for Washington, getting two primary starters back in the lineup.
Quinn also announced the quarterback Jayden Daniels was ruled out of Sunday contest after returning to practice on a limited basis
while recovering from a dislocated left elbow. If you think we’re buried the lede here, we haven’t. Daniels got his own story, which you can read by clicking the link below: ⬇️
The team formally ruled safety Nick Cross (illness) and guard Sam Cosmi (concussion) out earlier in the week, as they weren’t part of Washington’s traveling party for this Week 4 contest against the Colts.
Running back Rachaad White’s only uncertainty heading into injury report’s formal release on Friday afternoon. He didn’t participate in practice all week due to a shoulder injury suffered in a Week 3 victory over Seattle. It seems likely he’s out, but Quinn didn’t say so directly during his Friday press conference.
The Commanders brought newly re-signed running back Austin Ekeler with them to London and it’s possible he could suit up right away despite Washington running a different system than when he was with the team last season.
This story will be updated after the Commanders and Colts release their injury reports. Check back for updated information.
