This weekend, Penn State takes on the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes. In an alternate universe, Penn State is a top 5 or top 10 team, and this is a high stakes game with a trip to Indianapolis (and the Playoffs)
on the line.
Instead, Penn State is under .500 on the year, has fired its head coach, and has lost its starting QB for the year.
Look, we all know it’s going to be rough on Saturday. While the team is still talented, they’ve come up short in 4 straight games (all by one score!), and I just don’t really see a viable path toward a victory.
In fact, I see several viable paths for a full on bloodletting, with OSU doing their best to run up the score.
So, with that in mind (and never mind the #2 Indiana Hoosiers on the schedule the following week), I suggest we just have some fun with it.
I’m all in on Kaytron Allen getting the top spot on Penn State’s all time leading rushers list. Let’s feed him and celebrate as he gets closer and closer to the top rung.
Let’s enjoy Ethan Grunkemyer getting more and more snaps as QB1 – he may or may not be on the roster next year, but we can at least enjoy what may have been in 2026 had Franklin been around.
Let’s see how much havoc the young DEs can cause, particularly the Chazmanian Devil. Dani Dennis-Sutton will be gone next year, so how much pressure can the young linemen create?
How about the LBs? Is there good depth that can contribute once Amare Campbell and Dom DeLuca are gone?
This team has a tough path ahead of it, and I foresee at least 2 more losses this year on the horizon. Bowl game or not, we can still have some fun on a play-by-play, drive-by-drive, player-by-player basis.
Alternatively, we could all just be angry about everything for the rest of the season?
