The criticism rained hard again after the Huskers’ 37-10 shellacking in Happy Valley. However, improvement has continued in his third season even if it’s not the double-digit win seasons Temple and Baylor accomplished. Is the unprecedented and immediate success of Curt Cignetti at Indiana, which has been indirectly responsible for fan and booster impatience followed by pressure for quicker firings, causing Matt Rhule to be judged more harshly than would be normal?
And 19 Husker seniors will walk on Friday. Who of this group will be the hardest to replace? Multiple captains, 2/3 of the interior O-line, a rock at wide receiver, two members of one of the nation’s best pass defenses and four who wear single-digit jerseys as voted on by teammates to the toughest players on the team – and that would likely be all six if offensive linemen weren’t excluded due to jersey number rules.
Cast your votes and the results should be up by breakfast time on game day!
