Going into the 2026 season, the Cincinnati Bengals had one of the best, if not the best, wide receiver rooms across the NFL.
Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Andrei Iosivas, Dohnte Meyers, and Colbie Young rounded out the room with high expectations.
Fast forward to the beginning of Week 5, and the Bengals are now dealing with injuries to Chase, Higgins, Iosivas, and Young.
During his weekly presser, Zac Taylor gave some insight on what makes Meyers so special right now.
“In terms of the make-miss burst to
go get big plays, he’s as close to Ja’Marr as we’ve probably had. Ja’Marr’s obviously top of the chain there in terms of any ball he catches. He can go to the house. And Dohnte, I think, is probably next in line with that ability,” Taylor shared.
Being compared to the best wideout in the NFL is a massive compliment and shows the Bengals’ confidence in Meyers.
In Week 4 vs. the Jaguars, Meyers stepped in for Chase and caught seven passes for 82 yards.
The former CFL wideout has made a tremendous impact on this coaching staff since the offseason and will likely see the biggest role of his life on Sunday if Chase and/or Higgins are unable to go.
Burrow clearly trusts Meyers now, and that will be a big boost to the passing game against a winless Dolphins team.
