The Brewers kick off their postseason today! All four Division Series get underway this Saturday with Milwaukee opening the festivities in their contest against the Chicago Cubs at 1:08 p.m. CST. Here’s a rundown of today’s slate:
Cubs at Brewers (1:08 p.m. CT, TBS)
The Cubs and Brewers bring their division rivalry into the playoffs, starting with today’s matchup between Freddy Peralta and Matthew Boyd. While Milwaukee won the division and secured MLB’s best record, their 6-7 record against the Cubs shows
that this won’t be an easy matchup. The Cubs made it through the Wild Card by defeating the San Diego Padres in three games.
Yankees at Blue Jays (3:08 p.m. CT, FOX)
Another in-division matchup, the New York Yankees travel to Toronto to face the Blue Jays. For all the tumult of New York’s regular season, they found their form in the second half with the league’s third-best runs scored down the stretch. That’s good news for the Yankees, but the Blue Jays ranked number one in that stat. Two of the best offenses in baseball will have to battle for a shot at the ALCS. The Yankees, after defeating the Red Sox in the Wild Card round, have to use their third-best starter Luis Gil in today’s game. The Blue Jays will start with Kevin Gausman.
Dodgers at Phillies (5:38 p.m. CT, TBS)
Two perennial powerhouses, the Dodgers and Phillies promise plenty of fireworks. It starts tonight with Shohei Ohtani making his first playoff start. Ohtani, returning from Tommy John, posted an incredible 2.87 ERA this year. The Dodgers cruised past the Reds in the Wild Card round. The Phillies earned a first-round bye, setting the stage for Christopher Sanches to start Philly’s first playoff game.
Tigers at Mariners (7:38 p.m. CT, FS1)
Finishing off the night, the Tigers head to Seattle for a showdown between two teams caught in a World Series drought. With Detroit advancing through the Wild Card round, they will rely on Troy Melton for Game 1 of this series. Detroit’s offense struggled throughout the second half and it won’t get easier facing the gauntlet of Seattle’s rotation. The Mariners send out George Kirby for today’s game. Kirby would certainly have been considered an ace entering the season, but it’s been a bumpy ride in 2025. His 4.21 ERA isn’t impressive, but he’s still an incredible talent. He appeared in two games for Seattle back in the 2022 postseason.
