Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich is locked in and ready to face Real Madrid in the Champions League.
To go into the Bernabéu and win, Kimmich says that Bayern Munich must assert itself, but must also be flexible.
“Generally speaking, we want to impose our style of play in every game. Real Madrid are unique in their style of play. They can create danger from any situation. It will be important to bring our strengths to the pitch. Of course, we will also adapt to Real Madrid’s style,” Kimmich said (as
captured by @iMiaSanMia). “If you want to beat Real, you have to be mentally and tactically at your best. We’re in good spirits, all the players are available. We’re excited to be playing here tomorrow. This is the ultimate test, it’s what every player dreams of. We’re looking forward to the battle tomorrow.
“We’ve been knocked out here every time recently, but the circumstances were always different. Often the second leg was here. Tomorrow it probably won’t be all decided yet and we’ll have the second leg in Munich. We’re really looking forward to the game.”
Kimmich, of course, will be well aware of Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé and his ability to change a game…quickly.
“Mbappé is a player who can help every team. He has extreme individual quality. He is the captain of France as well. He has decided many games this season, even when they were close games. He is a weapon. I’ve played many games against him, we know what to expect,” said Kimmich.
Finally, Kimmich was asked about the possibility of referring becoming a factor in the match. The 31-year-old insist that he is not going to fret that.
“I haven’t thought about that. I’m not worried,” Kimmich stated. “We all feel that a quarterfinal against Real Madrid is a special match. We’re incredibly excited for it. I was here once as a kid and looked at the stadium, there wasn’t even a game on. I already saw back then how huge it is. It’s not something you experience every day. You train every day for moments like these. I hope we put on a good performance tomorrow.”
