A member of the Seattle Seahawks free agency class is set to return. The Seahawks have agreed to terms with cornerback Josh Jobe.
Despite prior rumors, John Schneider is not, in fact, asleep.
If it holds, an average of $8 million per year is a fantastic value for Jobe. This is below Montaric Brown, it’s less than half the price of Jaylen Watson. Brian Nemhauser is currently reiterating he thought Jobe might sign for $11 million or more.
Instead, the four-year player who had at one point outright beat Riq Woolen for a starting spot retains his position with the Super Bowl champs.
This will not be the splashiest move fans get excited about, but it is one of the most important puzzle pieces for the roster. Nearly the entire secondary was in danger of turning over this offseason; now, at least one starter at a premium position is coming back for great value. Jobe set career highs last year in games started, passes defended, tackles, and completion percentage allowed.
Seattle gets a reliable player back in the fold.
