The Tommy Lloyd coaching tree now has a former player as one of the branches.
Ex-Gonzaga guard Kevin Pangos has been hired as an assistant coach, taking the spot previously held by Ken Nakagawa. Nakagawa left the program in August for a job in the NBA G League.
Pangos, 33, begins his coaching career after spending a decade playing professionally, mostly in Europe. Pangos also played in the NBA for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2021-22.
He played at Gonzaga from 2011-15, starting 140 games for the Bulldogs
(with Lloyd on staff as the top assistant). Originally from Canada, Pangos scored 1,824 points and remains the school career leader in 3-pointers with 322.
Pangos will make his on-court debut with Arizona Friday night for the exhibition finale against Eastern Washington.
