Highlights! Sam Patterson captures fourth-straight, first-round finish with standing TKO

Sam Patterson continued his welterweight takeover earlier today (Sat., Sept. 6, 2025) at UFC Paris LIVE on ESPN+ from inside Accor Arena in Paris, France, capturing his fourth-straight, first-round finish with a standing TKO (punches).

After losing his UFC debut in shocking fashion back in 2023, Patterson turned in three-straight finishes in the first round to put his name back on the map. He brought that streak into Saturday’s matchup with fellow welterweight giant, Trey Waters. Patterson entered

UFC Paris’ contest as a decent betting favorite, but he still needed to show up because Waters is no slouch.

Waters was in control early on with some strikes from range that busted up Patterson’s nose a wee bit. Patterson fired back with some nice leg kicks only to be countered by some of Waters’ own kicks. A few moments passed before Patterson landed a beautiful right hand that badly stunned Waters. Patterson moved in for the kill and chased his fellow welterweight around the cage trying to land the fight-ending shot. Waters didn’t go down, but the damage was too much to sustain so the referee stepped in for the standing TKO stoppage.
