- DOUBLE FIGURES, PART 1: Last night’s game was the 20th of the season in which the Cubs have scored at least 10 runs. They are 9-10 in the next games after the previous 19 and have scored an average of 5.37 runs — 7.56 in wins and 3.40 in losses. Since 2000, the Cubs are 168-164 following double-digit outbursts, averaging 4.80 runs — 6.71 in wins and 2.93 in losses. (Courtesy BCB’s JohnW53)
- DOUBLE FIGURES, PART 2: Last night’s game was the 1,943rd since 1876, one of every 11.6 in which the Cubs have scored double-digit runs. It was the 100th of their 1,008 games since 2020 — one of every 10.1. And it was their 20th this season — one of every 6.9. The Cubs had 104 such games in all of 2010-19, after having had 134 in 2000-09, which was their most since 160 in 1930-39, most in any decade since 1901. (Courtesy BCB’s JohnW53)
- DOUBLE FIGURES, PART 3: Before last night, the Cubs had not scored at least 10 runs at home vs. the Brewers since a 15-2 win on April 23, 2021. They have gone longer vs. only two National League rivals: since April 17, 2021, six days before they routed the Brewers, against the Braves and since May 9, 2018, against the Marlins. - AGAINST MILWAUKEE: The Cubs are 229-234 in all regular-season games vs. the Brewers, including 120-113 at home. With their 14-run margin of victory last night, they now have outscored the Brewers by exactly five runs, 2,096-2,091. (Courtesy BCB’s JohnW53)

Matthew Boyd, LHP vs. Robert Gasser, LHP
Matthew Boyd ended a rough four-start run with a really good outing against the Diamondbacks last Wednesday.
Because of the time missed due to injuries, Boyd has not faced the Brewers this year. He had a 7.84 ERA and 1.935 WHIP in two starts against
them last year in the regular season, and one bad outing and one good one against them in the 2025 division series.

Robert Gasser has had an up-and-down season for the Brewers. He’s had several good outings, but also some bad ones, and has allowed 13 home runs in 82.1 innings.
He has not faced the Cubs since May 27, 2024, when he allowed no runs and three hits in six innings. But as you can see by that boxscore link, that was a very different Cubs team. So, as always, we await developments.
