
Iowa right-hander Antonio Santos was activated off the Development List and right-hander Connor Noland was placed on it.

The Iowa Cubs lost to Indianapolis (Pirates), 8-3. The defeat snaps Iowa’s ten-game winning streak.
Antonio Santos gave up four runs in the bottom of the first inning and one more in the second to take the loss. The final line on Santos was five runs on six hits over three innings. Two of those six hits were home runs. Santos walked three and struck out four.
Eli Morgan tossed two
innings in a rehab appearance. Morgan gave up one unearned run on no hits. He walked two and struck out one.
First baseman Jonathon Long cranked his 20th home run of the year with the bases empty in the fifth. Long went 3 for 5 with two total runs batted in.

Knoxville Smokies
The Knoxville Smokies battered the Montgomery Biscuits (Rays), 5-3.
Starter Walker Powell pitched great, giving up just one unearned run on one hit over five innings. He struck out two and walked no one.
The Smokies had no runs and just one hit through seven innings, but they plated three in the eighth and two more in the ninth. The win went to Nick Hull, who entered the game with a 3-2 lead in the eighth, but gave up the tying run in the bottom of the inning. Hull allowed one run on one hit over one inning, but that one hit was a leadoff triple that then scored on a wild pitch. Hull struck out two and walked no one.
Tyler Santana pitched the bottom of the ninth and got into a jam with two one-out singles. But he finished off the save with two strikeouts with runners on the corners. Santana’s final line was no runs on two hits over one inning. He struck out two and walked no one.
First baseman Ethan Hearn had a two-run single in the eighth inning to temporarily give the Smokies a 3-2 lead. He was 1 for 4.
Left fielder Jordan Nwogu gave Knoxville back the lead with an RBI single in the top of the ninth. Nwogu went 2 for 4.
Center fielder Jaylen Palmer was 2 for 4 with a stolen base. He scored once.
Catcher Casey Opitz went 2 for 4 and scored twice.
