The 49ers’ game with the Seattle Seahawks was already set to be one of the biggest of Week 5 of the NFL season.
Now it will be subject to more eyeballs after the NFL made a change to the schedule that week.
The league is bumping the Chicago Bears’ game with the Green Bay Packers from the late window and into the 1:00pm ET time slot.
That will mean the 49ers’ trip to the Pacific Northwest to face their NFC West rivals will be Fox’s featured game in the 4:25pm ET (1:25pm PT) slot, with the Detroit Lions’
clash with the Arizona Cardinals the only other matchup on the network being played at that time.
The game will almost certainly be called by Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady, who were the announcers for the last meeting between the Niners and Seahawks, which saw San Francisco’s season ended with a 41-6 divisional round loss at Lumen Field.
While that was a chastening evening for the 49ers, it was largely a case of a plethora of injuries being too much to overcome against a team backed by a ferocious defense. In the regular season, the 49ers have won their last four road games against the Seahawks.
If they can stretch that streak to five games despite dealing with a significant number of injuries already at this point in the season, it will say much about the championship mettle of this 49ers team.
Before focus turns to a renewal of acquaintances with Seattle, the 49ers will host the Denver Broncos in Week 4. CBS Sports’ Kevin Harlan and Trent Green will be on the call for that game.
