It probably should have been considered more of an ominous sign when Dayot Upamecano called off talks with Bayern Munich during the summer.
At the time, it just seemed like Upamecano wanted a chance to
take a break from the grind of contract negotiations and wanted to put his focus on preparing for what was definitely going to be a grueling 2025/26 campaign.
That little hiatus, though, seemed to open the door for other clubs — or at least give them hope that they could convince the French defender to join them.
In the last two weeks, Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid have all been linked to Upamecano and, aside of Inter Milan, each club could conceivably offer Upamecano more money, while also meeting his demands for a signing bonus and a release clause.
Simply put, Upamecano inking a contract extension with Bayern Munich might not be a certainty.
On Thursday, Upamecano bolstered his value once again with star performance against Ukraine in a 4-0 victory for France, which led to this nifty stat:

So…Bayern Munich fans, is it time to getting worried about Upamecano leaving the club? Let’s discuss!
