Dana White is clapping back at Oscar De La Hoya, the Golden Boy Promotions head who has been talking non-stop trash about White and Zuffa Boxing for months.
White and De La Hoya have a long and contentious history that goes back to the McGregor vs. Mayweather days in 2016. Since then, De La Hoya has jumped back and forth between attacking White and trying to work with him. Dana, for his part, has maintained his stance that Oscar is a snake that he wants nothing to do with.
These days, De La Hoya is
in a tough business spot. Golden Boy Promotions lost its broadcast deal with DAZN and is now working with some company called Swerve TV. Reports have Golden Boy defaulting on a $27 million office building in downtown Los Angeles. Yet Oscar continues to focus on his ‘Clap Back Thursdays’ Instagram posts where he spends a lot of time mocking White.
“I’ll say what everyone is thinking,” De La Hoya said of Zuffa Boxing in his latest video. “Nobody wants to watch club show boxing in the Apex with influencers who give two s–ts about boxing. It honestly felt like a COVID bubble show. It had the look of a club show with the action of a sparring session. There’s a reason why those fighters were passed over by the top promoters, and it was obvious for the world to see.”
Sitting ringside at Zuffa Boxing 02, White finally laid into De La Hoya like the Dana from 10 years ago.
“Oscar is on a sinking ship and will not shut the f–k up,” White said. “This guy, it’s fascinating. He’s gonna have to throw the panties and f–king stockings back on and get on OnlyFans to start paying his rent. My boy’s running out of money. His ship is sinking very fast, and he’s talking s–t all the way down.”
“Is that what you wanted? Is that what you wanted, everybody?” he joked to the camera. “There you go. Panties and fishnets back on. Jump on OnlyFans and pay that $23 million on f–king rent, yo, buddy. Talking s–t like that. Bye. Bye.”
Those ‘fishnet’ comments are a reference to a 2007 scandal where photos of De La Hoya posing in fishnets and panties surfaced.
“I was drugged up, I didn’t even know it,” De La Hoya told Club Shay Shay in 2024. “I was getting with bad people, this and that. Two women come in my room with a suitcase. That’s all I remember … Women’s clothes, drugs, this, that. They set me up. They set me up, but it’s OK. It happened. So what?”
White has been taking a lot of flak from various boxing promoters in the scene, especially Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya and Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn. It’s been a while since Dana has had to deal with any real competition, but now we’re starting to see him get back into the headspace of nuking those who dare attack him. It should make for an interesting first year of Zuffa Boxing outside the ring!
