At his Monday presser, Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal was asked about the health status of several players. The answers were probably not what Canes fans wanted to hear.
On offense, starting
running back Mark Fletcher Jr. is unlikely to play this week against Syracuse. Miami’s starting RB got dinged up in the second half against SMU and that injury will keep him out this week.
On defense, DT Ahmad Moten Sr. is more “50/50” to play as he battles injury, according to Cristobal. Obviously, we’ll have to see how he does through the week and before the game, but he at least has a chance to play.
Two players who don’t have a chance to play this week, or maybe at all again this season, are starting WR C.J. Daniels and starting CB O.J. Frederique. Cristobal said both players “will be out a few weeks”, which, in November, brings into question their availability to play at all again this season. Daniels and Frederique are obviously battling more serious injuries than Fletcher or Moten, and the main thing is for them to be healthy before even considering a return to action.
From here, we have to wait until Thursday night (or more likely Friday night) to see who else may be limited in this week’s game, or who might join Daniels, Fletcher, and Frederique as missing the game entirely.
The Miami Hurricanes face the Syracuse Orange at 3:30pm from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The game will be televised on ESPN.
We’ll be back later this week with more injury updates as needed.
