The Buffalo Bills have officially named the team’s captains for the 2026 season. Last season, quarterback Josh Allen and linebacker Terrel Bernard were the team’s only named captains. The pair reprise their roles there this season, but four additional players join the leadership team. In total, there are two players each representing offense, defense, and special teams.
Tight end Dawson Knox is the other name from offense joining Allen in captaincy. It’s the first time Knox has been named a captain in his
seven-year NFL career.
For the defense, outside linebacker/edge rusher Bradley Chubb will pair up with Bernard in an official leadership role. Chubb signed with Buffalo as a free agent this past spring.
Special teams finds the Bills’ longest-tenured player named a captain. That’s of course long snapper Reid Ferguson. Joining Ferguson as a special teams leader is defensive back Sam Franklin Jr., who plays an integral role on teams coverage and more.
