The 4-10 Cincinnati Bengals have been eliminated from playoff contention after suffering a 24-0 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
The Bengals’ offense had plenty of opportunities to put points on
the board in the first half of play, but were unable to get into the end zone or even stay in field-goal range.
Although the offense has struggled, there were multiple late hits on Joe Burrow that were not called, which is a theme that we have all become too familiar with.
Although the hits were not ‘egregious,’ they were still late, and the contact was entirely unnecessary on the franchise quarterback.
Burrow had clearly thrown the ball away, and Dre’Mont Jones had plenty of time to avoid making contact, but still made sure to hit the franchise quarterback.
It was completely unnecessary and late after the throwaway, and then Jones proceeded to taunt the Bengals.
Ironically, the refs did throw a flag for offensive pass interference on the Bengals, but nothing was called on Jones for the late hit or the taunting.
The NFL has made it clear for years that they have no interest in protecting Burrow from late contact like guys like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and others.
