Tyson Fury is back, and he’s clearly taken his training seriously.
On Saturday, Fury returns to boxing for the first time in 16 months, ending his latest retirement to come back and fight Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Tottenham, England, broadcast live on Netflix.
The last time we saw the former two-time heavyweight champion, he was at his career heaviest at 281 pounds for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, but that extra weight did not help him to reclaim the heavyweight titles. And for his comeback
fight, Fury decided to get back down, coming in at 267.9 pounds for his return.
Coming in lighter means Fury won’t carry the same sort of weight advantage he often does in fights, as the 36-year-old Makhmudov is a bigger heavyweight and tipped the scales only a few pounds less than Fury, coming in at 264.9 pounds.
The co-main event on Saturday features the highly-discussed bout between Conor Benn and Regis Prograis. While much was made beforehand of Benn dropping back down in weight, both men made the 150-pound limit without issue on Saturday, with Benn coming in at 149.5 pounds, while Prograis weighed in at 148.1 pounds.
