Logan Paul is happy to be leaving the real combat sports competition to his brother Jake … unless a superfight with Conor McGregor suddenly comes together.
Logan currently competes in the WWE, while McGregor fights for UFC. They’re both under the TKO umbrella, which has Paul hoping perhaps a big money match could be made in the future once McGregor recovers from knee surgery.
In a new interview with Conor Benn, Logan explained that he wasn’t focused on boxing any more.
“No, not at the moment, because
of wrestling,” he said. “WWE. I’m enjoying WWE. I think it’s the best job in the entire world and I think I’m built for it. It’s a similar buzz to performing in boxing but with way less … stakes? Nerves, that are healthy?”
“Boxing was difficult for me because I didn’t know, after I fought maybe four or five times, I didn’t know if I’d be able to show up 100% physically and mentally on the night of. When I fought Floyd, I was both, thank God. But a lot of my other fights, bro? I’m 80% if even that. It’s a tough, unforgiving occupation that I don’t know if it fit my mentality and who I am.”
“I’m a professional wrestler, bro,” he concluded. “My brother is a boxer. There’s like a distinction. And that’s why he’s doing what he’s doing, and I’m doing what I’m doing. I found my thing. It makes more sense for me. I’ll stick with it now.”
“But if a fight comes up,” Paul added, “If I’m WWE Champion and a fun fight comes up? Like, say they pitch me Conor McGregor, and they’re like, ‘Yo, do a quick little crossover bout.’ I would love to do that. I think there’s a lot of room for [it] cuz it’s all under the TKO banner. At the end of the day, it’s going to be highly entertaining.”
Paul argued that McGregor’s days as a legit contender in the UFC are over, so why not have him fight influencers instead? Influencers like him.
“I don’t think given his performance in his last fight and the fights before, you can put him on a card and expect people to think he actually has a chance at winning if his opponent is competitive,” Logan said. “Because of that, there may be an argument that his showmanship and promotional ability would be better suited to a big crossover event [with me] … that would still be competitive!”
“I think we’d have a competitive bout.”
