10 ways to fix College Football
Jason Kirk proposes ten changes that college football can make to improve the sport. For the CFP, things will stick at 12 teams for now, but move the playoff up a week and have quarterfinal games on campus, and move the Army/Navy
game to January first to kick off the semi-final games. Teams will go back to regional conferences, restoring five major conferences, and OOC games will have a regional focus as well. Perhaps the most interesting idea is to trade unlimited NIL money in exchange for only being able to transfer once in a career. Some other common-sense rules are five years of eligibility, an age limit to compete in the sport, and coaches not being able to leave prior to the end of the season.
Lobos prevail over the Aztecs
In the biggest matchup of the weekend, New Mexico was able to defend their home court over San Diego State. Tomislav Buljan dominated to the tune of 24 points and 18 rebounds, and the Aztecs simply had no answer for them. SDSU actually led most of the first half and was up by 11 at one point, but the Lobos kept battling back, aided by the Aztecs’ horrendous free-throw shooting (59%). With the win, New Mexico is still in a good position to get at least a share of the MW regular season title and, more importantly, remains firmly in the bubble for the NCAA Tournament.
Aggies handle the Antelopes.
Utah State bounced back Saturday night to grab a much-needed win, and with it, retook sole possession of first-place in the Mountain West standings. Things were looking bleak at one point, as the Aggies squandered a fourteen-point lead and trailed with just under five minutes to go. But they found a way to regain momentum and control, outscoring Grand Canyon 16-10 down the stretch and coming away with a five-point victory.
