Week 1 was less successful than Week 0, where no one was below 50% on their picks. 4 of us fell short of that mark this week while Andrew managed to win more than he lost and both Import and the Commentariat were right at 50%. Combined, the experts were a combined 34-50, but that was heavily weighed down by Tom and CDA each going 4-10.
The most common (see: everyone was wrong) misses were on Missouri winning by 37 or more over Central Arkansas along with Florida State not just staying within 2 TDs
but winning by that margin over Alabama. Only Cole thought the Roadrunners of UTSA would stay within 23 points of Texas A&M, and only Andrew had Miami at least keeping it within a FG of Notre Dame, much less winning. Both of them were right in those games.
With the FanDuel and SB Nation partnership, I switched the odds used over to them unless they are not offering a spread on a game that another sportsbook does. Just like Week 1, 2 games were picked unanimously. We all think Vanderbilt at least keeps it to a 1-point game (or wins) at Virginia Tech and also expect Ole Miss to win by 11 or more at Kentucky. Cole, Andrew, and CDA broke up other potentially unanimous games. Again, 4 more games are split 4 to 2, so that leaves 4 games split down the middle for a 2nd straight week.
The Rules
- Normally, the picks are for all SEC games with one dealer’s choice where I get to choose another game to make us pick.
- The picks will be made AGAINST THE SPREAD. Too many games are easy to pick heads up. Also, this will serve as a PSA for why you should not get into sports gambling, which is especially important with sports gambling being legal in Tennessee now.
- The lines will be taken from FanDuel, who SB Nation has partnered with this season, some time Monday, so they may not match what is listed at the time this article is published. I may also use a backup for FBS-FCS matchups if the line is available elsewhere when I get the spreads.
