There is something special in the air at Bayern Munich. Not only are Die Rekordmeister on track to break their own 54-year-old Bundesliga goal record, they also produced a dominant display in their Champions League Quarter-final clash against Real Madrid — securing victory in the Spanish capital for the first time in 25 years.
Bayern’s victory at the Bernabéu was a piece of history that every fan would have died to bear witness to — and considering the price of flights from Munich to Madrid costing
an eye-watering €900, many a bank account would have had to “die” to be a part of the momentous occasion. It’s a good thing Bayern supporters are smart. In fact, put enough of them together and there isn’t a problem they can’t solve — even a €900 plane ticket.
In a truly special moment, a Bayern Munich fan club got together — and instead of sucking up the unreasonable plane ticket — took a page out of Jan-Christian Dreesen’s book. Practicing some fiscal savvy, they rented out an entire plane!
This is spectacular.
Since the plane tickets to Madrid were over 900 euros, a Bayern fan club got organized and 180 supporters rented a plane.
The ticket ended up costing them half price, and they left singing and drinking beer. And there they were, cheering on at the Bernabéu.
The dream of the pibardos.
It’s easy to feel lonely these days, even amongst millions of fans supporting the same club. We are more connected, yet more isolated than ever. But, in a world where genuine connection feels further away than ever, this is a truly heartfelt reminder that you are never truly alone.
That’s the hope I have for every member of the Bavarian Football Works community. Despite our differences, we all share the lows, and the highs. We are all in this together.
