Barcelona star Dani Olmo has explained why he will be wearing the No. 10 shirt for Spain at World Cup 2026.
La Roja’s shirt numbers have been released for the tournament with Olmo wearing 10, Lamine Yamal sticking with No. 19, Gavi taking the 9, Pedri wearing 20, and Ferran Torres the No. 7.
Olmo says the No. 10 has served him well in the past for Spain and he’s happy sticking with it for this summer’s tournament.
“There are no problems behind closed doors, there’s no fuss about wearing the No. 10.
It’s just rumors going around outside,” he told a press conference.
“It’s a number I’ve worn before, the one we won the Euros with. It’s a number I like, so why change it when everything is going well?”
Olmo also spoke about Yamal and says his team-mate is looking good in training after injury.
“I see him doing well. He’s training little by little as part of his rehabilitation. He’s making good progress and we’re happy with that.”
Spain are currently preparing for their first warm-up match before the World Cup against Iraq on Thursday.
