In what began as a low-scoring, tough and physical game between the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans, very quickly evolved into an explosion of points during the final two minutes of the first half. After the Texans kicked a field goal to take a 13-9 lead, Buffalo responded in explosive fashion on the ensuing kickoff return.
Running back Ray Davis got the message, running straight into conflict and quickly up the field to leave everyone else on the field behind him en route to six points. Inside of
two minutes, the Bills now held a 16-13 lead.
But not so fast, since the Texans saw opportunity where before it seemed Buffalo was likely to chew up the rest of the first-half clock. An impressive drive featuring nothing but passes by quarterback Davis Mills ended in yet another lead change and a halftime lead that has the Bills in a 20-16 hole.
Buffalo gets the ball in the second half, but the guys in white not named James Cook III and Ray Davis need to play better. Absent through 30 minutes was the same sort of passing production the Bills found out of their receiving group in Week 11. Additionally, offensive coordinator (or quarterback Josh Allen) seems to be shying away from utilizing Cook more often. In a nearly 2:1 hole regarding gained first downs, Buffalo needs to get down to business the rest of the evening.
Yet again, Josh Allen threw an ugly ball unnecessarily over the middle when he could have taken a checkdown toss to Cook. Fortunately it was only an interception and not a pick-six.
Here’s your open thread for the second half of Bills at Texans Week 12 for Thursday Night Football. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
