Greetings, BBN!
The standings race has now officially begun. Ole Miss is all by itself at the head of the pack with its pristine 1-0 record, Kentucky is all by itself at the bottom at 0-1, and everyone else is waiting to jump out of the starting gate. This weekend will be a small smattering of more league games with Georgia at Tennessee, Arkansas at Ole Miss, Florida at LSU, and Vanderbilt at South Carolina.
Half the league is in action against each other, and the other half is in non-con. The Florida-LSU
game would probably be getting a lot more hype right now if the Gators hadn’t lost to USF. The game of the week right now seems to be Georgia at Tennessee.
Let’s take a look at the standings heading into Week 3:

Notes:
- The LSU-Florida game this weekend might be getting a lot more hype right now if the Gators hadn’t gotten stunned at home by the USF Bulls. The upset was the biggest of the young season so far and dropped them into the 1-1 club along with Kentucky, Alabama, and Texas.
- While only four teams aren’t 2-0 right now, not all these wins came easy. Mississippi State toppled the #12 ranked Arizona State Sun Devils over the weekend in a 24-20 win where they scored a 58-yard go-ahead TD with 30 seconds left. With Ole Miss also beating Kentucky in a one-score game, it was a good day to live in Mississippi.
- Oklahoma got a home win in the only ranked-vs-ranked game of the week, besting Michigan 24-13. That nonconference win will significantly help them make a bowl as the season progresses.
- Missouri reached 2-0 outlasting an old Big 12 rival, prevailing 42-31 against Kansas. They have a very favorable schedule that could help them finish quite high in the standings.
- If Ole Miss wants to stay atop the leaderboard, they’ll have to take care of Arkansas this weekend. That will be their SEC home opener, and their last league game till the 27th against LSU.
