According to report from Tz journalists Philipp Kessler and Vinzent Tschirpke, former Bayern Munich prospect and emerging PSV Eindhoven attacker Paulk Wanner has rethought his health, fitness, and nutrition regime in an effort to maximize his potential as a player (Author’s Note: Where was this over the past few years?):
As tz learned, Wanner expanded his support network three months ago. His diet was adjusted to his blood count, and he added his own fitness coach. Wanner lost eight percent body fat
and gained seven kilograms of muscle mass. The midfield gem made significant gains, particularly in the athletic area. This also benefits his playing style. Under PSV coach Peter Bosz, Wanner is not only used in attacking midfield and attack, but also in the number six position.
Wanner indicated that his versatility has helped him establish himself at PSV Eindhoven.
“I get a lot of touches on the ball there, which suits me well. I’m strong with the ball at my feet. It certainly doesn’t hurt that I can play several positions. I really enjoy playing in the number six role,” Wanner said. “For comparison: Barcelona also lacks physical presence in the center; Pedri and De Jong are the more technically gifted option in that position. The way we play football really suits me. And I have to work just as hard off the ball.”
Finally, Wanner’s long-awaited decision on who he will play for internationally — Germany or Austria — has been made…and it will be Austria per Tz.
“I dream of playing in a World Cup – but until then, I want and need to perform week after week,” said Wanner.
