There was no doubt that Bayern Munich needed some motivation in the locker room after falling into a three-goal deficit to Mainz 05 by halftime.
Heck, some would have suggested that the Bavarians needed a swift kick in the behind to help the squad regain focus.
It appears that head coach Vincent Kompany might have taken both tactics per midfielder Leon Goretzka.
“We got a real dressing down at halftime, but then we focused on what makes us strong. I think you can experience setbacks in life, and you can fall
behind in a football match. But it always comes down to how you react. Fortunately, we were able to prove again today that we have a very special team,” said Goretzka (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Bayern Munich, of course, responded in a big way by claiming a shocking 4-3 victory. Sometimes, a team just needs to be reminded of how it got to this position in the season in the first place — and Kompany was there to ensure no one forgot.
